Editorial Policy and Scientific Review

Isocapnic publishes respiratory-training education for athletes, coaches, practitioners, and general wellness users. Our goal is to make complex respiratory physiology practical without overstating what a study, product, or individual result can prove.

Who creates our content

Most Isocapnic educational content is written or edited by Coach Luke Way and the Isocapnic editorial team. Luke is Isocapnic’s founder and CEO, has coached endurance athletes for 20 years, and specializes in elite triathlon, mountain biking, CrossFit, and physiology-led athlete assessment.

Technical articles may be written or scientifically reviewed by Dr. Andrew Sellars. Dr. Sellars is a Canadian physician, anesthesiologist, performance physiologist, entrepreneur, and coach with a Master’s degree in Athletic Coaching. He co-founded VO2 Master and is Co-Founder, Chief Science Officer, and Physiology Advisor at Isocapnic Technologies Inc. His work spans biomarker-guided training, respiratory physiology, endurance performance, and the practical translation of physiological data.

How scientific review works

An article displays a “Scientifically reviewed by” line only after the named reviewer has reviewed and approved the published version. The article also displays the date that review was completed. Authorship and scientific review are separate roles.

Articles without a scientific-review line should not be interpreted as reviewed by Dr. Sellars or another clinician. They may still cite research and follow this editorial policy.

Our evidence standards

  • We prefer primary, peer-reviewed research when supporting physiological or performance claims.
  • We distinguish research on general respiratory-training methods from research performed specifically with an Isocapnic BWB product.
  • Preliminary findings, ongoing studies, practitioner observations, and customer experiences are identified as such.
  • We describe study populations, protocols, and important limitations when they affect interpretation.
  • We avoid presenting a study result, athlete story, or customer review as a guaranteed individual outcome.
  • References are linked in the article or listed in a selected-research section whenever practical.

Product and financial disclosure

Isocapnic Technologies Inc develops and sells the BWB-Sport, BWB-Mask, accessories, and related training services discussed on this website. Our founders, employees, and contributors may therefore have a commercial interest in Isocapnic products.

Commercial interest does not remove the need for accurate sourcing. We aim to separate product-specific evidence from evidence supporting the wider respiratory-training method and to disclose limitations that materially affect a claim.

Health and safety scope

Isocapnic content and BWB products are intended for athletic and general wellness education, not medical diagnosis or treatment. People with respiratory, cardiovascular, or other health conditions should consult their clinician before beginning respiratory training.

Users should follow the Isocapnic app, product manual, and safety guidance. Stop a session if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or unwell. Advanced hypoxic or hypercapnic protocols require the prescribed settings, monitoring, and safety precautions.

Updates and corrections

Articles display a last-updated date. We revise content when evidence, products, protocols, safety guidance, or terminology materially changes. A new scientific-review date is added only when the updated published version has been reviewed again.

If you identify a factual error, broken reference, unclear disclosure, or safety concern, please contact Isocapnic so the editorial team can investigate and correct it.
